Abstract:The effect of dicyandiamide (DCD) on nitrate accumulation in flowering Chinese cabbage, spinach, lettuce, Chinese cabbage were investigated. The vegetables were cultured in bagasse substrates and DCD was applied to the substrates 20 days before harvest. The result indicated that nitrate content was reduced by (24.9 %), 27.1 %, 39.1 %, and 41.6 % in the four vegetables respectively, while the yield and quality were not affected significantly.
