Abstract:Three major characteristics(fruit setting percentage, single fruit weight and single plant yield)under weak light condition were selected to study the genetic effects of weak light tolerance of eggplant by using quantitative genetics. The result showed that the genetic effects of these three major characteristics can be all explained by additive-dominance model, and that dominance effects of fruit setting percentage and single plant yield are given priority. The dominance potentials of two characteristics are positive over dominance. The additive effects of single fruit weight are in the ascendant, the dominance potentials is positive complete dominance. The narrow heritability of these three characteristics is 14.59 %,28.01 % and 10.57 % respectively. The broad heritability is 56.64 %,44.74 % and 50.58 %.The three characteristics are more affected by environment. The minimum number of genes which control the three characteristics is 3,1 and 4 respectively.Optimal selection generation of the three characteristics is F7,F5 and F8 respectively.Selection should not be conducted in early generations. The heterosis of weak light tolerance of eggplant can be used to produce F1 hybrids by crossing the parents with weak light tolerance.
