Abstract:The aim of the study is to obtain the transgenic potato(Solanum tuberosum L.)lines conferring resistance to late blight.AFP(antifungal protein)gene was introduced into potato susceptible cultivar‘Shepody’via Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation, using micro-tuber discs as explants.Four positive plantlets were obtained by PCR assay and the glyphosate selection. The micro-tubers were introduced in the dark and then planted in the field to grow into complete plants for the identification of disease resistance.Using detached leaf assay,4 transgenic plant lines were identified for late blight resistance. The result showed that their disease resistance was higher than the non-transgenic ones.
