Abstract Zaoyou No.3 is a new sponge gourd F1 hybrid developed by crossing female parent S-03-8 with male parent S-03-98.The first fruit occures at 6th-8th nodes and the fruit setting ability is strong.The fruit is short with green skin,tender flesh and sweet taste.The average fruit is 23 cm in length and 5.5 cm in diameter and 476 g in weight.Its yield is about 45 t·hm-2.
