Abstract Twenty strains of Bacillus were isolated by sampling soil from fields of various regions via preliminary screening. They have antagonistic activities against Alternaria brassicae.A strain named LBC-1 with a relatively higher antagonistic activity was obtained via secondary screening.Strain LBC-1 was characterized by physiological and biochemical experiments, morphological features observation, and 16S rDNA sequence analysis.Based on the results, strain LBC-1 was finally identified as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens.Strain LBC-1 was a broad-spectrum antagonistic strains of spore-forming bacteria.
