Abstract The research used six nitrogen concentrations, they were 0 mg·L-1(T1),94 mg·L-1(T2),140 mg·L-1(T3),210 mg·L-1(T4),315 mg·L-1(T5)and 472.5 mg·L-1(T6).Sweet pepper(Capsicum annuum L.var.grossum Bailey)was taking as experimental material to study the effects of different nitrogen concentration on its seedling ageing formation. The results showed that ageing degree had positive relation with lignin content, whereas the lignin content was affected by nitrogen concentration.Appropriate nitrogen concentration could reduce lignin content, while the higher nitrogen concentration could enhance the lignin content. The lignin content in T6 treatment was 2.09 times of that in T4 treatment. When the nitrogen concentration was 210 mg·L-1(T4),the lignin content in sweet pepper seedling was the lowest. When MDA content reduced, the activities of SOD,POD increased and strong seedling index was higher than other treatments. It indicates when nitrogen concentration is 210 mg·L-1(T4),the anti-ageing strength of sweet pepper seedling is increased.
