Abstract Zheqie 28 is a new eggplant F_1 hybrid developed by crossing two inbred lines J801-1 and T905-2. It grows vigorously and produces long club fruits with purple red skin. It has middle resistance to Phytophthora rot, verticillium wilt and bacterial wilt. The yield is 55.5 t·hm~-2. It is tolerant to hotness and is suitable for cultivation in open field in spring.
