Abstract Jingqie No.2 is a new eggplant F_1 hybrid developed by crossing inbred line 98-65 as female parent with inbred line 98-1 as male parent. It grows vigorously with high yield and has stronger resistance to verticillium wilt than Duanbahei and Beijingjiuyeqie. The plant is upright with strong branches. The fruit is ball-shaped and glossy dark-purple in color. The flesh is light green. The average fruit weight is about 500-750 g. The yield is over 67.5 t·hm~-2.
