Abstract Liannong 97-5 was bred by system selection from the separate generation of the hybrid crossing Shuangfeng No.1 with 85-1. It has the characteristics of trailing plant, whitish green round stick-shaped pod. The length of pod is about 26 cm and the weight per pod is about 29 g. It is medium resistant to rust and its yield is about 25.5 t·hm~-2. It is suitable for cultivation in open field in spring and autumn and protected field in winter in the north of China.
