Abstract Hongza No.10 was a superearly season F 1 hybrid. The female parent was provided by AVRDC. The male line 8784 with virtual horticultural traits was developed from the progeny of Peto 95,which was introduced from USA. The young seedling of female parent possessing ah gene showed green stem. This gene not only provided a convenient way to identify the hybrid at the early stage, but also provide the high resistance to ToMV.
