Abstract In order to explore the role of silicon surfactant on the control effect of beet armyworm(Spodoptera exigua),S.exigua Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus(SeNPV),emamectin benzoate, and chlorantraniliprole were added silicon surfactant Ag-64(0.1 %)respectively, and 25 % effective dose,50 % spray volume were cut down for each insecticides in the meantime. Each treatment were sprayed at the peak of 1st-3rd instar larvae of Spodoptera exigua and the same or better control effects could be obtained, suggesting that the silicon surfactant could increase the moisture quality on the leaves of green Chinese onion(Allium fistulosum L.var.giganteum Makino).
