Abstract:The genetic population of faba bean is relatively high heterozygosity because of its high natural outcrossing rate.It is difficult to distinguish genetic variation within a population by traditional field phenotypic traits observation. Molecular markers provides a new approach for germplasm resources identification and cluster analysis of faba bean.This article reviews the development of molecular markers and its application on genetic linkage map construction,marker-assisted selection,germplasm resources evaluation and gene mapping, as well as the prospects of the molecular markers technology in genetic breeding for faba bean. It provides a reference for the efficient utilization of germplasm resources and the genetic improvement of faba bean varieties.
