A New Cold and Bolting Tolerance Chinese Cabbage Cultivar —‘Qianbai No. 8’

Abstract:‘Qianbai No. 8’, a medium maturing Chinese cabbage F1 hybrid bred by crossing cold and bolting tolerant inbred line ye12-3 with strong winterness self-incompatible line C-2, was dvevloped in order to meet the need of off-season production of Chinese cabbage in Guizhou Province in winter and early spring.
This variety has the characteristics of cold tolerance, strong resistant to bolting and general diseases, high yielding and good commodity quality. It has strong growth vigor under severe cold condition in winter and spring. The plant is 39.8 cm in height, 50.2 cm in width, and its net yield is about 75 t·hm-2. It is suitable to be cultivated in Guizhou Province and regions with similar ecological conditions in late autumn for early spring market or in early spring for spring and summer market.
