Abstract:‘Qingza No.2’ is a three-line hybrid welsh onion variety, developed by crossing male sterile single 08qingA6-1 with inbred line 06-25-12-3. The plant grows with high speed and uniformity. Its leaves are erect and dark green in color. It has 6 tubular shaped leaves with thick wax powder layer on its surface. It is resistant to lodging. The stalk is 55-70 cm in length and 4.0-4.5 cm in diameter. The single plant weight is 0.45-0.55 kg. The scallion stalk is dense in texture, crisp, tender and tastes sweet. The yield is over 97.5 t·hm-2. Its resistance to alternaria leaf spot, virus disease and downy mildew is stronger than that of the CK‘Hanfengjucong’. It has strong resistance to cold and tolerance to heat. It can be planted all year round and is an ideal variety as green onion. It is suitable for cultivation in large areas of Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Liaoning Provinces.
