Creation and Application Evaluation of Male-sterile Eggplant Lines with High Resistance to Bacterial Wilt

Abstract:Grafting was mainly used for the control of bacterial wilt in eggplant.There is a strong
demand for dominant resistant rootstocks in production.In this study,we used stabilized male-sterile and parthenocarpic line CMSD-6 as the male-sterile donor parent and high resistant lines BW2,BW9,‘Tiemuzhen’as the resistant donor parents to bacterial wilt.Combined with hybridization,backcrossing,identification of agronomic traits,fertility,resistance and analysis of combining ability,we cultivated 3 excellent male-sterile lines(CMSBW2,CMSBW9,CMSTMZ)with high resistance to bacterial wilt.Furtherly,CMSBW2 showed the highest GCA eff ect value for main stem diameter and plant height,and the lowest GCA eff ect value for incidence of bacterial wilt,which could be used as the core dominant parent for the cultivation of rootstock in eggplant.This study lay a material foundation for improving the bacterial wilt resistance,reducing the cost of manual seed production,ensuring hybrid seed purity,and preventing parental loss.
