Abstract：The effects of four elements, K, Ca, B, Si, on disease resistance, seedling growth and activities of defense enzymes of eggplant were studied by inoculating Verticillium dahliae in field test. The results showed that the disease incidence and disease severity index of eggplant Verticillium wilt were decreased after spraying the solutions of K, Ca, B, Si as compared with the control. And the stem height, stem diameter, root length, fresh matter, root vigor and activities of defense enzymes（POD, PPO and PAL）of eggplant were promoted at low concentrations. While the promotion dropped down with the increase of concentration. Among all the treatments, 50 mg·L-1 of B had the best effect on disease resistance. The disease incidence was lower than that of the control. In this treatment, all growth indices were significantly higher than those of the control. Meanwhile, root vigor and activities of POD, PPO and PAL were 286 %, 20 %, 78 % and 87 % of the control, respectively. It indicated that B could markedly induce the disease resistance of eggplant to Verticillium wilt, and apply to production.
