Abstract:Cultivated tomato(Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)is an important vegetable crop in China. Bemisia tabaci is a cosmopolitan pest which is considered as a complex species comprising a large number of biotypes. The cultivated tomato is not resistant to Bemisia tabaci, but some wild tomato species are resistant to this injurious insect. The recent research progress made in tomato germplasm resources resistant to Bemisia tabaci and the genetic basis of this resistance mechanism are summarized in this paper. The paper also puts forward the emphasis for future research.
