Abstract：This study reports the newly discovered watermelon disease in Harbin and Shuangcheng
2 cities，Heilongjiang Province．Two pathogenitic strains were obtained after isolation culture，purification，
and pathogenicity testing．The pathogen was identified by morpho logical feature，gram staining，
physiological-biochemical characteristic and 16S rDNA analysis．The results showed that both 2 strains
were Acidovorax avenae subsp. citrulli．Thus，it was determined that the watermelon disease observed
in Harbin and Shuangcheng City was watermelon bacterial fruit blotch．This is the first report of this
disease in Heilongjiang Province.
