Abstract：Using water shield（Brasenia schreberi J.F.Gmel）newly collected seed as material，
the paper studied on the effects of different treatments on the germination rate and energy．The results
showed that 4 °C low temperature treatment had better effect on improving the germination rate of water
shield seed．It could get better effect to break dormancy of water shield seeds with the treatment of 4 °C
cold water storage，soaking with 500 mg·L-1 GA3 for 6 h and then in 40 °C water for 50 min．25 °C was
the best germination temperature．Under the condition of 20 °C, the seed would take long germination
cycle，and under the condition of 30 °C，the seed was easy to breed white rot around germination hole．
Under partial lighting conditions，seed had a higher germination rate，and almost no germination under
dark condition．
