The domestic horticultural industry is paying more and more attention to ebb and flood irrigation，responding to the requirements for ecological environment protection，water saving，and reducing application quantities of fertilizer and pesticide. This paper reviewed the ebb and flood irrigation technology in vegetable
seedlings production from history origin，working principle，system composition，technical advantages，research and development status，etc.；and also prospected the problems existing in the present application of this technology.
