Abstract:The common bean mutant ylm is a yellowing mutant obtained by 60Co-γ-ray mutagenesis of
high-generation inbred line‘A18-1’,and its leaf color changes with the development process. This paper
conducted analysis on ylm leaf color change, photosynthetic pigment content, photosynthetic characteristics
of different developmental stages, and mutant agronomic traits at seedling stage and green ripening stage.
The results showed that the single plant weight, leaf area, stem thickness and main root length of mutant ylm
in seedling stage were all lower than those of the wild type. The dry and fresh weight of single plant in green
maturing stage, number of pods per plant, yield of fresh pods, number of seeds per pod,and pod length were
also significantly reduced. The total chlorophyll content and photosynthetic rate of the mutant increased along
with the darkening of leaf color. The reduction of photosynthetic pigment content inhibited the photosynthetic
rate, therefore affected the development of leaves, and also leading to the changes in stomatal conductance
and transpiration rate of leaves.
