Far-red Light Effectively Accelerates the Accumulation of Biomass,Leaf Blade Anthocyanin,Total Phenolics,and Flavonoids in Basil Plant

Abstract:In order to definite the effects of substituting far-red(FR)photons for part of photosynthetically active radiation on plant biomass,leaf blade anthocyanin,total phenolics,and flavonoids,this experiment took greenery basil as research object;kept total flux density as 230 μmol·m-2 · s-1 in a plant factory of artificial light type and under condition of 16h photoperiod;measured the effects of substituting farred(FR)photons for part of photosynthetically active radiation on photosynthesis,morphology,biomass,and contents of leaf blade anthocyanin,total phenolics,and flavonoids contents of greenery basil plant.Results indicated that comparing with the contrast,FR photons treatment increased the above ground fresh weight and dry weight of basil plants by 6%-23% and 4%-28%,respectively,plant height and width by 49%-65% and 10%-17%,respectively.FR photons treatment had significantly increased the contents of anthocyanin in basil whole plant and leaf blades,total phenolics,and flavonoids of basil under partial FR light source.The antioxidant capacity of leaf blades had increased by 21%-44%.While,the net photosynthesis and leaf area of basil plant were not significantly affected.
