Abstract：China has become the second largest producer of sweet corn．According to driving factors and limiting factors for sweet corn industry development，combined with official data and market comprehensive analysis，the prediction for sweet corn cultivated area in China will increase to 383 000 hm2 in 2026．The average annual growth rate（CAGR） will be 2.5%．In future，the planting ratio of high value sweet corn variety will gradually increase．According to market changing tendency，this paper classified the requirement details of varietal characters and cultivation characters by different market segments．This paper also put forward strategy and suggestions countering major problems and bottlenecks faced by development of sweet corn industry．
