Abstract The toxicity and control efficacy of 9 insecticides,10% imidacloprid wettable powder
(WP),10% nitenpyram aqueous solutions(AS),1.8% abamectin emulsifiable concentrate(EC),10%
cyantraniliprole suspension concentrate(SC),2.5% lambda-cyhalothrin emulsion in water(EW),4.5%
beta-cypermethrin EC,0.3% matrine AS,240 g·L-1 spirotetramat SC and 25% thiamethoxam water
dispersible granual(WG)against Semiaphis heraclei were evaluated by using leaf-dipping method and field
trial methods. The indoor bioassay results showed that except for pirotetramat, thiamethoxam, nitenpyram,
lambda-cyhalothrin,matrine,imidacloprid,cyantraniliprole,beta-cypermethrin and abamectin had
higher toxicity on S. heraclei. The field trial efficacy of these 9 insecticides against S. heraclei was higher
than 98% 3 and 7 days after treatment without any phytotoxicity on celery.
