Abstract Huangfeng is a new hot pepper F_1 hybrid developed by crossing two inbred lines 5213-6 and 6302. It is early maturity and has stronger resistance to virus, Phytophthora blight and bacterial spot than Hangjiao No.1. The fruit is 13-14 cm in length, 1.8-2.0 cm in diameter with thick wall and good storage character. Average fruit weight is 18-21 g.The yield is over 37.5 t·hm~-2. It is suitable for protected cultivation in early spring in Hunan and Jiangxi.
