Abstract Chengjiang No.5 is a newly bred asparagus bean variety developed by system selection after crossing Chengjiang No.5 with 2208. Its first anthotaxy occurs at 2th-3th node on main vine. The average pod is 55-60 cm in length, with light green color. Its yield is 28.5 t·hm~-2. Its early yield accounts for over 60 % of total yield. It is suitable to be cultivated in region of the Yangtze River.
