Abstract Tianhong No.2 is a new carrot F_1 hybrid developed by using males sterile. It has higher content of dry matter, carotene and recovery rate than those of the control variety. The whole root including epidermis, phloem, cambium and pith is orange red. Leaf grows upwards. Average root weight is 150-170 g and average yield is over 60 t·hm~-2. It is suitable for cultivation in summer and autumnal.
