Abstract Lettuce seedlings were raised in compound substrates,which were composed of vermiculite,coal ash,peat moss,and organic fertilizer,according to different combinations and proportions. The results showed that different compound substrates had significantly different performances. The seedlings in T 2 (70% vermiculite+20% organic fertilizer+10% coal ash) were the best and much better than CK (Peat moss∶Vermiculite=2∶1).
