Abstract In this paper,the bioactive substances obtained from Euphrbia fischeriana root were tested for antifungal activities against plant pathogens through growth rate law. The main factors influencing bioactive substances extraction and their best levels were confirmed by single factor analysis and the optimum condition was confirmed by orthogonal test. The research indicates that extracts of Euphrbia fischeriana root have inhibitory activities to many kinds of plant pathogen. In particular, inhibitory rate of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum, Colletotrichum lindemuthianum and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis is better comparatively. The results showed that the optimal conditions were: 1∶20 of 90 % ethanol to sample weight, extraction temperature 65 ℃, pH value 10.0, extraction duration 90 min, and extraction for twice.
