Abstract Structure of flower,flowering phenology,floral dynamic,stigma receptivity,pollen vitality,pollen germination rate,breeding system,pollination and hybridization of Brasenia schreberi were studied.The result showed that the population florescence could last about 30 days,from early May to early June.A single flower could bloom for 2 days with segregation between stamen and pistil both in time and space.There was no apomixes.Stigma receptivity appeared on the first day of blossom.The rate of seed to carpel through artificial pollination was 27.8 % which was higher than through natural pollination (20.9 %).Pollen vitality kept 4-5 days after blossom.The average P/O was 14 947,belonging to obligate xenogamy.
