Abstract This test took disease-resistant melon(Cucumis melon L.)cultivar —‘Yindi’and susceptible variety —‘Kalakesai’as material, and studied the inducing effects of BTH on resistance to downy mildew, white powder, anthrax at three stages of melon plants treated with BTH. The results showed that after treating the melon at periods of vine extend, early florescence, young fruit with BTH,the‘Yindi’and‘Kalakesai’infected plant rate and disease index reduced conspicuously, compared with the contrast. But there were differences in disease preventative effects between all treatments. The preventative effect on disease-resistant cultivar —‘Yindi’was better than that of susceptible variety—‘Kalakesai’,and it reduced with the elongation of the disease spelled and the severity of the disease extended.
