Abstract Effects of 3 irrigation modes including trickling irrigation under mulch, furrow irrigation above mulch and furrow irrigation under mulch on the growth and yield of pepper(Capsicum annuum L.)‘Nongda 602’were studied. The results showed that water consumption of trickling irrigation under mulch was ranked the lowest, while its pepper yield and water use efficiency were ranked the highest respectively.Water use efficiency of trickling irrigation under mulch was 2.04 kg m-3 and 1.81 kg m-3 higher than furrow irrigation above mulch and furrow irrigation under mulch, respectively.Thereby, trickling irrigation under mulch was the preferable irrigation mode for autumn-winter greenhouse pepper.
