Abstract In order to study the Bactrocera(Zeugodacus)cucuribitae(Coquillett)trapping effect in bitter melon(Momordica charantia L.)park, different food bait ingredients including honey, red sugar, peptone, pumpkin were compared in the field test. The results showed that by adding pumpkin bait to red sugar or honey bait, the trap effect was significantly higher than the other baits, and this difference is more obvious in the bitter gourd park.Within 3%-10% range, the higher is the concentration of red sugar, the stronger the trapping effect. But adding 5%,10%,15% red sugar liquid to pumpkin bait, there are no differences on the role of luring adult. In the field use, fresh bait must be timely replaced.
