Abstract Ascorbic acid is an important antioxidant synthesized in plant. It has an important role in plant growth and development. Biosynthesis and metabolism of ascorbic acid is summarized and its metabolism regulation in tomato is emphasized in this paper. The future research direction about ascorbic acid metabolism is also prospected.
