Isolation and Identification of Fruit Rot Pathogen in Pumpkin |

Abstract Post-harvest fruit rot has brought huge economic loss to pumpkin production.In order to
exploit the pathogen of pumpkin fruit rot in Jiaozhou,Qingdao of Shandong Province,this study isolated and
identified the pathogen by molecular biology and morphology method and according to Koch’s Rule.Results
indicated that 2 kinds of bacterial strain were isolated from the infected pumpkin fruit.They were the pathogens
causing pumpkin fruit rot.They were identified as Fusarium solani and Rhizopus stolonifer,respectively.
This is the first report in China that Fusarium solani and Rhizopus stolonifer could infect pumpkin fruit.
