Abstract Lotus（Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.）is a characteristic economic crop in China，and it has been vegetatively propagated for a long time，but there are problems such as low reproduction coefficient，large amount of seedling consumption and high transportation cost．This paper summarized about the basis，advantages，breeding methods and supporting technologies，research progress and basic scientific issues that need to be broken through for lotus seed seeding．This article provides a reference for further research on lotus seed seeding technology．
