Abstract Tomato(Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)seedlings were cultured by using 50 mesh insect nets covering + yellow board warming in advance + spraying insecticide timely.The results showed that the tomato seedlings grew neat and normally.It could isolate whitefly(Bemisia tabaci)effectively with average 12 per 100 plants whitefly adults.While in conventional land-based breeding,the whitefly adults could averaged 410 per 100 plants.The seedling spraying times were reduced by 4-5 times.The incidence of tomato yellow leaf curl virus(TYLCV)were 0.9 %-2.8 % with full coverage of 50 mesh insect nets,and the prevention and control effect were over 90 %.It can avoid economic losses of 6 329.5 Yuan per 667 m2.This technology was applied in Cangnan,Ryan,Ouhai of Wenzhou region in 2007-2009.It can prevent TYLCV successfully and the applied areas have reached more than 330 hm2.
