Abstract The sex pheromone technology was introduced to increase our alert system of monitoring and predicting the infestation of vegetable pests in the field.Six commercially available pheromone lures and three light traps were evaluated for monitoring the beet armyworm Spodoptera exigua and S.litura.The results showed that the most effective lure was Ningbo Newcon,which had the longest longevity,caught the most males and had the most accurate seasonal population peak in both of the species.It possesses higher reli...
