Abstract Twelve pathogen collections of powdery mildew,which came from watermelon,melon,pumpkin,cucumber and squash grown in the greenhouse or open field of different places in spring and autumn of Beijing,were detected using the international standard identification system.According to a series of reaction of powdery mildew to different host,it could be confirmed that the disease was caused by Sphaerotheca fuliginea.There were two races,race 1 and race 2France,of which race 2France was the dominant one.
