Three breeding materials of Brassica oleracea cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) introduced from abroad were investigated in the field, and were backcrossed with cabbage inbred lines to transfer the CMS gene. 16 cabbage CMS lines and corresponding maintain lines were developed by backcrossing for 5-6 generations, and 6 perfect hybrids of cabbage with high uniform and good character as well as quality were obtained.

Microspore culture was carried out with 11 varieties of broccoli. Embryoids and regenerated plants were successfully obtained. The highest embryogenesis induction efficiency of 25. 28 per bud was achieved in luxiu. After treating the regenerated plants with 1 % colchicines, the chromosome doubling efficiency increased to 24%.

Development process of tumorous stem characters were studied by using a mustard variety Fuza No. 1 sown on Aug 30 and Sep 9. The results showed that the development processes of vertical diameter, horizontal diameter, fresh weight and dry weight could be described by Logistic equation y= k(1+ e(a+bt))-1 and the tumorous stem index met the type of regression curve y=a+b1t+b2t2. The beginning of linear-growth period of vertical diameter, horizontal diameter, dry weight and fresh weight were 2.1-9.6 days, 17.8-19...

Effects of grafting on growth and development, yield and quality of muskmelon in solar-greenhouse were studied. The result indicated that the plant height, the number of leaves, the rate of fruit enlarging and yield were increased by grafting. There was no obvious effect on the appearance of fruit, but the soluble solid and VC contents and the number of female flowers in lateral branch were decreased by grafting.

The inheritance of resistance to clubroot in Chinese cabbage was studied in the experiments with F1, F2 and BC1 of resistant inbred line 9617CR80 -2-1 and sensitive inbred line Huabai 2-3-196-954-1-85-1. The results show that clubroot resistance of Chinese cabbage is determined by a dominant gene.

293 isolates were obtained from rhizosphere soil of pepper. It was found that 5 potential biocontrol spore bacteria showed good antagonistic action on Phytophthora capsici by pairing culture on CAA. The inhibition zone diameter ranged from 8.0 mm to 11.3 mm. The result from the experiment at greenhouse showed that Bn - 130 isolate could effectively control the pepper blight, and the control efficiency reached 64. 7 %. The culture filtrate of Bn - 130 isolate was effective for inhibiting mycelium growth and ...

Yingshidahong is a new tomato F1 hybrid developed by crossing two inbred lines 89 - 336 and 88 - 334. The fruit is red with hard flesh, tall round shaped, with few abnormal fruits. Average fruit weight is 350 g. It yields 90 t ?hm-2. It is resistant to ToMV and leaf mold. The fruits have long shelf life, and can be stored in 30 days under usual temperature. It is suitable to be cultivated in both open field and protected field.

Fensha No. 1 is a new tomato F1 hybrid developed by crossing two inbred lines S1 and S93. The fruit is round with pink color, and the sugar content is above 5%. Average fruit weight is 259 - 270 g. The plant grows vigorously, and is resistant to ToMV, CMV, Fusarium wilt and bacterial wilt, mid-resistant to leaf mold and Meloidogyne incognita. It yields 120 - 180 kg ?hm-2, and is suitable to be cultivated in spring and autumn for both protected and open field cultivation.
