4 Application of DTOPSIS in Evaluation of New Tomato Varieties
Shen Xuelin;Dai Huajun
s The statistical method, DTOPSIS, was applied for comprehensive evaluation of new tomato varieties, based on the data of tomato regional test of Suzhou carried out in 2004. The result showed that the analytical results of DTOPSIS was consistent with that of routine analysis of regional test, and was more reasonable than that only using yield analysis.

6 Tomato Plant Type Character of Different Cultivars in Winter and Spring and Its Effect on Light Distribution Plant Population
Shi Song;Xu Hui;Li Tianlai;et al.
Plant type character of two tomato cultivars, Katerina and Jiayuandafen, which were long-term cultivated in different seasons in solar greenhouse and its effect on light distribution at different leaf layers were studied. The results showed that the tomato plants had the ability of self-adjusting leaf pose to adapt environment, and this kind of ability of two cultivars were significantly different. Katerina has good light adaptability with low density of leaves, patulous midlayer leaves, compact plant type ...

10 Effects of Hydropriming on the Germination Performance of Triploid Watermelon Seeds
Huang Rukui
Two triploid watermelon cultivars Jinwangzi No.1 and Guangxi No.5 were subjected to hydropriming treatments. The hydration process significantly enhanced germination performance in both cultivars, and further improvement was observed when the dehydration process was applied. However, there were different responses between the two cultivars to the dehydration processes, a medium-drying (40 % relative humidity, 20 ℃) condition significantly increased germination percentage and reduced mean germination time of...

13 Effect of Seeding Date and Cultivars on Plant Growth and Abnormal Curd in Early Cauliflower
Wang Bingliang;Xu Min;Cao Jiashu
Three early cauliflower cultivars were sowed at five different dates in order to investigate the plant growth and days from transplanting to curd initiation and harvest, especially to investigate the types of abnormal curd and their frequency. It was found that with the seeding date putting off, leaf length and width of the biggest leaf, as well as plant height increased remarkably when curd initiated. On the contrary, number of leaves decreased with the seeding date putting off. Seeding date affected sig...

16 Effects of Insecticides against Different Populations of Spodoptera exigua (Hübner)
Long Liping;Qin Jianlin;Cai Jianhe
The studies showed that populations of Spodoptera exigua (Hübner) infecting different crops had different sensitivity for insecticides. The population collected from Chinese cabbage was more sensitive to insecticides than that from cowpea. The largest differences of sensitivity were observed for chlorfluazuron and chlorfenapyr, which were 5.37 and 4.07-fold. And the sensitivity differences for flufenoxuron, chlorpyrifos, spinosad and tebufenozide were not too much. The two populations were not sensitive to ...

24 Two New Salt-tolerance Tomato Varieties —‘Dongke No.1’and ‘Dongke No.2’
Shao Qiuling;Liu Yuxin;Yu Dehua;et al.
Dongke No.1 and Dongke No.2 were developed through Yuenong No.2 crossing wild tomato Qisiman with tolerance to salt and system selection. Both have small fruits and average fruit weight is 15-20 g. Both are tolerance to low temperature and salt under the salt level of 0.7 %-0.8 %, are resistant to Cladosporium fulvum and gray mould, and yield 120-150 t·hm -2 under protected cultivation with soil salt content of less than 0.5 %.

26 A New Sponge Gourd F_1 Hybrid —‘Yueyousigua’
Luo Jianning;He Xiaoli;Luo Shaobo;et al.
Angular sponge gourd Yueyousigua is a new early F_1 hybrid developed by crossing inbred line D_2 and S_ 12 . It has high rate of fruit-setting. The fruit is cylindrical,light-green in colour, sweet in taste, 49.0 cm in length, 4.8 cm in diameter. Average fruit weight is 0.33 kg. It is resistant to Fusarium wilt and blight, tolerant to downy mildew. It yields 30.0-37.5 t·hm -2 , and is suitable for cultivation in south China in spring and autumn.
