4 A New Pickling Cucumber F_1 Hybrid Bred from Interspecific Hybridization
Chen Longzheng;Chen Jinfeng;Jack Staub;et al.
A new pickling cucumber line 7012A was developed through interspecific hybridization of cultivated cucumber Beijingjietou with the Cucumis wild species C. hystrix and subsequent backcrossing of the hybrid to cucumber and selection from the selfed progenies. This line was used to cross with an elite American pickling cucumber line (7011A) from the University of Wisconsin to produce F 1. The results indicated that the F 1 has significant heterosis over its parents in yield and growth vigor. The plants ...

7 Effect of Sub-high Temperature on Photosynthesis and Carbon Accumulation and Distribution of Tomato in Greenhouse
Zhang Jie;Li Tianlai;Xu Jing
The effects of different temperature during daytime(25 ℃, 30 ℃, 35 ℃)on photosynthesis and carbon accumulation and distribution of tomato in greenhouse were studied. The results showed as follows, sub-high temperature decreased the chlorophyll and photosynthesis of tomato and made the growth of plant worse than control. Sub-high temperature advanced the development of fruits, and shorted the time of maturation. The carbon accumulation and distribution of tomato under sub-high temperature were changed as wel...

11 Effect of Different Culture Conditions on Allicin Content in Garlic Bulb
Yang Fengjuan;Liu Shiqi;Wang Xiufeng;et al.
The effect of different varieties and culture conditions on allicin content in garlic bulb was studied. The results showed that the allicin contents of different varieties were significant. The density, the relative content of water, soil type and the harvesting date influenced the allicin content in garlic bulb. The suitable density was 525 000 plants per hm 2; the suitable relative content of water in soil was 40 %; the suitable sand content in the soil was 87.35 %; the suitable harvesting date was 21 day...

14 Toxicity and Controlling Effect of Thiamethoxam against Bemisia tabaci B-biotype
Xu Baoyun;Xiao Lifeng;Wu Qingjun;et al.
Both foliar spray in laboratory and field trails were conducted to evaluate the effect of thiamethoxam 25 % WG against adults of Bemisia tabaci B-biotype on cucumber seedlings. The laboratory bioassay indicated that the activity of thiamethoxam was 290-fold as much as chlopyrifos, and the results in field trials showed that the controlling effects reached 95.39 % in 3 days. The suitable dosage concentration was 1∶5 000-6 000 dilution for foliar spray.

16 The Effect of B-CHD Fermented Filtrated Liquor on Long Pepper during Storage
Wei Baodong;Li Xiaoming;Che Furong;et al.
The effective impact to preserve long pepper treated with fermented filtrated liquor isolated from its surface was studied. The results showed that rotten index was reduced obviously by the fermented filtrated liquor of B-CHD( Bacillus ); the natural fruit percentage was enhances by 60 %-70 %; the density of respiration was kept at a low level; the activities of POD, CAT were stabilized; and the accumulation of MDA was reduced.

25 A New Kidney Bean Variety—‘Fengyun No.1’
Zhang Shulin;Yuan Sufang;Shi Dongliang;et al.
Fengyun No.1 is a new early maturity kidney bean developed by crossing 8511-7 as female parent and 623-1 as male parent. The fresh pod is light green, with few vein, less fiber and better quality. The average pod weight is about 18 g. The yield is about 24 t·hm -2 . It is resistant to epidemic disease, leaf spot and rust, and is suitable to be cultivated in protected fields in spring and autumn.

27 A New Pepper F_1 Hybrid —‘Tianjiao No.4’
Liang Gengsheng;Yin Yanlan;Zhao Guozhen;et al.
Tianjiao No.4 is a new early maturity pepper F 1 hybrid developed by crossing two inbred lines 123 and 49. It takes only 40 days from transplanting to the first harvesting. Its early yield is 22.5-37.5 t·hm -2 ; total yield is 42-60 t·hm -2 . The fruit is 26-33 cm in length, 3.0 cm in diameter, and 30-40 g in weight. It is resistant to phytophthora blight and anthracnose, highly resistant to CMV and scab. Fruits are fresh green, wrinkle in base, with middle piquancy, thin skin, thick pulp, and good tas...
