Genetic Analysis of the Cucumber Germinating Ability in Low Temperature
Gu Xingfang;Feng Linlin;Zhang Chunzhen;Fang Xiujuan;Zhang Tianming
Six cucumber inbred lines for protected cultivation were used as materials in the experiment. By using complete diallel crossing (without reciprocal crossing), the genetic analysis of Relative Germinating Viability (RGV), Relative Germinating Percentages (RGP),Relative Germinating Index (RGI) and Relative Germinating Length of Radicel (RGLR) in low temperature were conducted. The results showed that the inheritances of RGV,RGI and RGLR in low temperature fit additive dominant model, and the dominant effect ...

Chemical Induction of Mutation in Yellow Peel Watermelon and its Application in Tetraploid Watermelon Breeding
Li Lizhi;He Yi;Lu Kunguang
After the diploid yellow peel watermelon 2608 was treated with 0.2% colchicine, the mutation characters of organs and the physiological changes were investigated. The reliability of different identification methods of tetraploid mutation was compared with each other, and the outer coloration situations of the yellow peel watermelon fruits with different ploid level or different genotypes were analyzed. The results indicated that identification of tetraploid mutation by crossign diploid watermelon with...

Correlation and Path Analysis of the Main Agronomic Traits of Bitter Gourd
Zhang Changyuan;Luo Shaobo;Luo Jianning;et al.
Correlation and path analysis of 14 agronomic traits of bitter gourd were studied. The results of correlation analysis revealed that very significant positive correlation were found between the first ten days yield, lasting harvest time, number of fruit per plant and yield respectively. While, very significant negative correlation were found between days of first female flowering, days of flowering, node of first female flower, node of first fruit and yield respectively. The results on path analysis showed th...

Insecticidal Activity and Efficacy of Bukuai,a New Commercial Mixture Product, against Major Vegetable Pests
Zhang Jinming;Lin Wencai;Guo Shijian;et al.
Laboratory and field trials were conducted to evaluate the insecticidal activity and efficacy of 1.45% Bukuai (avermectin and imidacloprid mixture) WP,a new commercial mixture product of avermectin and imidacloprid, against major vegetable pests. The results showed that,in the laboratory,Bukuai had high level insecticidal activity to Plutella xylostella,Myzus persicae,Aphis gossypii,Tetranychus sp. and Thrips palmi, which was similar to abamectin and much higher than imidacloprid. In the field Buk...

The Features of Several Compound Substrates for Plug-Seedlings of Lettuce and their Nursery Effect
Cui Xiumin;Wang Xiufeng;Wei Min
Lettuce seedlings were raised in compound substrates, which were composed of vermiculite, coal ash, peat moss, and organic fertilizer, according to different combinations and proportions. The results showed that different compound substrates had significantly different performances. The seedlings in T 2 (70% vermiculite+20% organic fertilizer+10% coal ash) were the best and much better than CK (Peat moss∶Vermiculite=2∶1). The seedlings not only grew quickly, accumulated more dry substance, but also had highes...

Study on the Adaptability of Different Types of Cucumber Varieties under Protected Culture
Gao Lihong;Chen Qingjun;Zhang Fuman
s The growth and development of 35 cucumber varieties was studied under protected culture. The results showed that 35 cucumber varieties could be divided into three types according to their botanical character with class average mothed. They are European cucumber varieties,Asian cucumber varieties and Europe Asia hybrid cucumber varieties. The Europe Asia hybrid strains have an advantage in vegetative and reproductive growth, with strong plant growth, high root system activity and high yield under sub opt...

A New Super-early Processing Tomato F_1 Hybrid Hongza No.10
Li Junming;Xu Hejin;Zhou yongjian
Hongza No.10 was a superearly season F 1 hybrid. The female parent was provided by AVRDC. The male line 8784 with virtual horticultural traits was developed from the progeny of Peto 95,which was introduced from USA. The young seedling of female parent possessing ah gene showed green stem. This gene not only provided a convenient way to identify the hybrid at the early stage, but also provide the high resistance to ToMV. The high resistance to Fusarium wilt was proved by artificial inoculation. Thi...

A New Pepper F_1 Hybrid Xinfeng No.2
Du Feng;Hu Guangming;Hu Yumei
Xinfeng No.2 is an early F 1 hybrid. Its female parent 91 5 is a selfing line developed from the local resistant to disease pepper varieties by crossing, back crossing and single plant selecting, its male parent 90 8 is a stable selfing line developed from the mutation plants of Harbin sweet pepper by many generations of inbred selection. The plant of this variety is compacted and vigorous. There were 110 days from sowing to harvest. The variety yields 51.0-67.5t·hm -2 ,it is resistant to bacteri...

A New Sponge Gourd F_1 Hybrid- Zhusigua No.1
Jiang Jun;Liu Shuling;Zhang Ming;et al.
Zhusigua No.1 is a new F 1 hybrid by crossing the self line Zhu No.2 with the self line Zhu No.1. In contrast to the control variety Changsharousigua ,the first fruit setting of this variety is 2-3 nodes lower than that of the control and the harvest time is 5-6 days earlier than that of the control. The variety grows vigorously with high resistance to downy mildew, virus and Fusarium wilt. It yields 30t·hm -2 ,20% higher than that of the control. The fruit are green, sweet and chrispy with high ...
