    Polymorphism was analyzed in 33 inbred lines of cabbage by using an extended random primer amplified DNA (ERPAD) marker EPT11 900 linked to a dominant male sterile gene in cabbage. The results indicated that EPT11 900 mainly distributed among inbred lines with early maturity and rarely existed in inbred lines with chicken-hearted head or late flat head.     Thirty-six toamto varieties from AVRDC were evaluated for the resistance to bacterial wilt and the agronomic characters. The results showed that five tomato varieties R 304 10 N UG (5054),Cravel (5052),CLN1463 160 40 60 (5056),CLN1464 111 30 45 (5057),and Redlander (5059) had high resistance to bacterial wilt ,higher yield,good qualities,and are promising breeding materials.

    The relationship of tomato shoot wilt,a main physiological disorder occurred in summer and autumn,with variety,sowing date and culture method were investigated. Varieties including Maofen 802,Luofan No.2 and L 402 ect. did not show significant difference. But tomato shoot wilt had a close correlation with sowing date,the longer the seedlings were kept under high temperature,the more quickly and serious the disease occurred. Both mulch and intercrop with corn decreased the disease index significantly.

    Growth trend,leaf area formation,podding characteristics and pod yield formation of dwarf asparagus bean sowed in spring and autumn in Guangzhou were studied. The results showed that the growth trends of plant and its organs (root,stem,leaf and pod) appeared in S curve when sowed in spring. The growth trends of dwarf asparagus bean sowed in autumn were similar to that sowed in spring.     Transplanting season,media and time of tissue cultured plantlets of pumpkin were studied. The best time of transplanting was when the plantlet roots were 0~1cm in length. Better medium was 1/3 sands + 1/3 humus soil + 1/3 grits (3 layers). The suitable season of transplanting was spring (from Mar. 10 to Apr. 20). On above conditions,the survival rate of transplants was 90%~100%.

    Hainong No.6’ is a F 1 hybrid watermelon. It is highly resistant to Fasarium wilt and anthracnose. The fruit is ellipse covered with dark green stripe and red flesh.     Xiangyan No.12’is an early maturing slight hot pepper F 1 hybrid developed by excellent inbred 9009 crossing with inbred 9002.     Mengjiao No.3’is a F 1 hybrid that crosses inbred line 8603 7 and 8606 1,which were selected from a local variety and a variety from USA. The variety has early maturity and grows vigrously. First harvest occurs 35 days after transplanting. Fruits are slight pungent and dark green. It has middle resistance to TMV. The average yield ranges from 37500 55500kg·hm -2 .     Meiqie’ No.1 is a newly released F 1 hybrid that was developed from the cross of 21-3,an inbred line selected from a Taiwan long purple cultivar,with 21-4,an inbred line from a local red cultivar in Fujian. It has desirable traits including early maturity,fine fruit characters and high yield. The average yield is about 30.0 45.0t·hm -2 . It has been popularized and planted nearly 3200 hm 2 in Fujian,Zhejiang,Jiangxi,Guangdong provinces.
