  A new method for screening cucumber cultivars for resistance to scab etiolated cotyledon spray inoculation was investigated. The procedure was as fellow:the sterilized cucumber seeds were added in Petri dishes with layers of gauze wetted by water. The etiolated cotyledons growed after 5 days in darkened condition at 20℃.   The eggplant cultivar‘Liu Ye Qie’( S. melogana ) was grafted on Sisymbriumleaf Nightshade ( S. Sisymbriifolium Lam),a resistant stock for increasing resistance to Verticillium wilt of eggplant ( Verticillium dahliae ).   Four yardlongbean Vigna sesquipedalis (L. ) Furwirth lines with different resistance to rust ( Uromyces vignae Barcl) were used to make populations of F 1、F 2、BC 1 and BC 2,and resistance identification in these populations by natural infestation in field was conducted to explore the inheritance in yardlongbean to rust. The results revealed that the resistance of the resistant line Zijia and Baijia were controlled by a single dominant gene respectively.

  Butterbur is a kind of vegetable with high economic value. The petioles and tubers were cultured on MS+2mg/L BA media to produce callus and shoots. When the shoots grow to 2～3cm high,they were transplanted on 1/2 MS+0.1mg/L NAA rooting media. By using the leaf blade or petiole of regenerated buds as explant,callus and buds were produced more quickly.

  In high altitude and cold,Xining area of Qinghai plateau,a soybean variety,Dongnong 40 began pod setting 70 days after emergence. The pod weight per plant reach the highest 100 days after emergence. It was suitable time to pick vegetable green pods. The highest yield,8.32t,of green pods was obtained from the density of 600000 plants per ha.

  Xiangjiao No. 12’is a hybrid bred for fresh market and processing. Its plants grow vi gorously with wide adaptation. The variety was resistant to bacterial spot,anthracnose. The yield was about 52.5t/ha. The calyx was not easy to fall off during processing and this gave a high product percentage.
