    Jiqie No. 2 is a new hybrid of eggplant selected by crossing E-901 with E-902. The F1 hybrid has good quality, early maturity and high productivity. It produces round and black purple fruits and grows vigorously. Average weight per fruit was 592.9g. The yield per 667m ̄2 was 4200~5000kg. It is suitable for open field in spring and protected field and can be grown in many places prefering round fruits type.

    Xiang Kugua No. 1 is a F1 of crossing 8901-1-4 and 003-2-3. This F1 hybrid has early maturity, high productivity and good quality. Under protection or in the open field in spring, it can be harvested 45 days after transplanting. In summer and fall, it can be harvested 42days after transplanting.     Xinjiao No. 4 was a variety selected from the progeny of the cross of inbred line Chaotian 73-8 and Qicunhong . Its fruits are elongate (14~16cm in length and 1.2cm in width), wrinkled, very pungent, easy to dry. Average weight per fruit is 3~5g. Dry matter of red matured fruits was 30%~40%. It showed some resistance to viral diseases and Phytophthora Blight, both better than the control cultivar─Shixian No. 2.

    Effects of different types of shading-nets under different culture systems on yield and quality of pak-choi were investigated in summers of 1992 and 1993. Results indicated that: in clear and hot summer of 1992, all covering treatments increased yield significantly, but in cool and raining summer of 1993, only grey-net covering, with 42%~45% shading on greenhouse,improved yield slightly.     More than 80 accessions of broccoli were screened for the multiple resistance by seedling inoculation and field test. Two matrials were selected, one material resistant to both TuMV and black rot and the other resistant to TuMV and enduring black rot. By crossing these two materials with other inbred lines two promising combinations with resistance to both TuMV and black rot were obtained.
