    During the 12th Five-Year Plan(2011-2015),great progress has been made in greenhouse vegetable industry in China.With the expansion of the production area,the equipment and technology levels used in greenhouse facilities were also largely upgraded.The quality,security,and competitiveness of product were continually improved.Different types of greenhouse facilities,production modes and technical systems based on the characteristics needs of specific districts were developed.This paper analyzed the distinctiveness of the progress made in basic research,technology innovation in greenhouse vegetable industry during the past 5 years in China.We summarized the key accomplishments and development in greenhouse facility,biological researches of vegetable on growth and development,regulation of stress tolerance,plant defense strategies against pathogens and insect pests,system establishment for high quality and safety production,overcoming of soil sickness,graft and seedling culture techniques.Our study also analyzed the key problems existing in greenhouse vegetable production and discussed about the prospect for industry development and research activities.
