Studies on Tomato Seedling Quality Maintenance Indices under Simulated Storage and Shipment Conditions
Ning Wei;Ge Xiaoguang;Li Tianlai;et al.
Indices of tomato seedling quality maintenance level after production before field trans-planting were studied through simulated experiments, small-scale operation, indoor analyses and measurements, and field observation. The results showed that under simulated storage and shipment conditions, seedling quality change under different durations (days) of shipment and storage was correlated significantly or even very significantly with certain physiological and morphological indices. When various indices meas...

Improvement on Measurement of Free Water and Bound Water in Plant Tissues
Liu Xiangli;Gao Lihong;Liu Mingchi
This paper analyzed error sources on Abbe Refractometer measurement which is a conventional method for free water and bound water in plant tissues. The measurement method was improved by measuring tissues weight instead of sucrose concentration. The improved method was established by testing different plant tissues, which is simple, convenient and less error.

Study on Nutrient Absorption of Two Tomato Varieties in Solar Greenhouse
Liu Jun;Gao Lihong;Huang Yannan
The experiment was conducted in solar greenhouse with tomato varieties Zhongza No.9 and Beril, in order to investigate the nutrient absorption characteristics in winter-spring. The results showed that, except P 2O 5, the uptake rate and amount of total N, K 2O, Ca, Mg, and Fe of Beril is obviously higher than that of Zhongza No.9. The uptake percentage of main elements is also different between varieties. Zhongza No.9 has a higher percentage of P 2O 5 and K 2O, but has a lower percentage of Ca and Mg.

Effects of Different Fertilization Modes on Tomato Growth in Substrate Culture in Autumn-winter Season
Liu Wei;Yu Hongjun;Jiang Weijie;et al.
The experiment on effect of five different fertilization modes of soilless culture system on growth of tomato in autumn-winter was conducted. The results showed that bio-organic solid fertilizer and biogas liquid had lower cost and better effect, and were also beneficial to environment protection.

Two New Cowpea Varieties— ‘Oujiangyidianhong’ and‘Oujiangerchiyu’
Rao Libing;Zheng Jinhe;Huang Wenbin;et al.
Oujiangyidianhong and Oujiangerchiyu were developed by system selection from Thailand cowpea. Oujiangyidianhong takes 69 days from sowing to the first harvest in spring. The pod is 70-90 cm in length, 0.8-1.0 cm in diameter, 25-30 g in weight, tastes sweet and crisp. Fresh pod yield is 30.0-37.5 t·hm -2 . It is resistant to Fusarium wilt and TuMV. Oujiangerchiyu takes 71 days from sowing to the first harvest in spring. The pod is 60-70 cm in length, 1.0-1.2 cm in diameter, 25-30 g in weight, tastes sweet ...
