Based on the prior treatments of nitrogen fertilizer application, it further included the treatments of applying P and K fertilizer. 11 Study on Drip Irrigation Index for Tomato Over-summer Cultivation in Greenhouse

The experiment was conducted to determine the irrigation index for tomato over-summer cultivation in greenhouse. Four treatments were conducted in terms of the substrate water content. The botanical characteristics, yield,quality and water efficiency of tomato were investigated.The results showed that 35 %-40 % was the optimum substrate water content for tomato over-summer cultivation in greenhouse.

13 Analysis of Combining Ability of Early-yield and Total-yield Character of Cucumber Cultivated in Open Field in Spring

The combining ability of early-yield and total-yield character of cucumber were analyzed by using six inbred lines of cucumber cultivated in open field. The results showed that the two characters were mainly controlled by additive genes and their inheritances fit in dominant-additive model mainly. The general combining ability(GCA)variance of early-yield occupied 91.92 % of the whole genotype variance. 16 Rapid Identification Method of Late Bolting Character in Chinese Cabbage

Seven Chinese cabbage cultivars or lines were used for establishing a rapid identification method of late bolting character by vernalizing the germinated seeds at 3 ℃ for 20 days, then the seeds were sowed and grown in a greenhouse at 20-22 ℃ and 16 hours day length(using 100-130 μmol·m -2 ·s -1 of supplemental lighting in night to provide longer days). Baofengdong 8, semi-leafless pea, was bred and selected by crossing Zhongwan 6(common pea) with 90- PE-10(semi-leafless pea). It is about 70 cm in height. It has 3 effective brunches, 18 nodes on main stem, 8-12 pods per plant and 6 seeds per pod. The rate of double-pod is above 90 %. 1 000-seed weight is about 208 g. Jinyu No.5 is a new cucumber F 1 hybrid developed by crossing A-8 with Jin3105. It is early maturity, high resistant to downy mildew, powdery mildew and fusarium wilt. Its plant grows vigorously, and it yields 150 t·hm -2 in greenhouse. Average fruit is about 32 cm in length and 150-200 g in weight. 26 A New Carrot F_1 Hybrid —‘Jinhong No.4’

Jinhong No.4 is a new carrot F 1 hybrid. The female parent 10421 is a petaloid male sterility line, and the male parent 3030 is a inbred line. The root is long cylinder shaped, 17.5-18.5 cm in length, 5.0-5.5 cm in diameter, with orange color. Average root weight is 260-270 g. The growing period is 120 days. The yield is 67.5-82.5 t·hm -2 . It is resistant to black rot and is suitable to be consumed both in fresh and processing, and be cultivated in summer in North China.
